Mission Statement

The Wyandotte Boat Club is an organization, of men and women, dedicated to the promotion of amateur rowing and the development of the physical, mental and moral well-being of the youth of Wyandotte and its environs by providing such means of education, recreation and competition as seen fit by the Board of Directors to achieve the desired end. Our social functions, to include the functions of the lounge, are secondary to our prime purpose: supporting kids in the sport of rowing.

Rowing Information

Adult Recreational Rowing The first session of the 2008 Adult Recreational Rowing Program will begin in June. Please click "here" for information, or on Programs in the left hand banner for this and more information on other club programs.

Introduction

The Wyandotte Boat Club is located on the Detroit River about 15 miles "downriver" of Detroit, in the city of Wyandotte. The Wyandotte Boat Club is one of the largest rowing facility in the United States. The lower level of the club features two massive indoor tanks, a weight room, ergometer room, coach's office, men's and women's locker rooms, five storage bays that can hold over 100 plus shells, and a workshop for repairs. The second level of the club features a beautiful bar and dance floor where members can enjoy each others company, a meeting room, outside patio, and a balcony overlooking the river.


The Sponsors

The new facility could not have been completed with out the hard work of many dedicated members and the help of the sponsors who contributed to the success of this project. These sponsors include: Members of the W.B.C., The City of Wyandotte, BASF Corp, William E. Kreger, Hienz Prechter/Heritage Fund, Charter National Bank, Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital, and Chrysler Corp Fund.

Upcoming Events



High School Regattas Time is fast aproaching for the W.B.C.sponsored high school regattas. The Hebda Cup, on April 26th and The Wy-Hi on May 2nd & 3rd. Please support these two events by offering to help. The dates of regatta meetings will be posted on this site.

Member Information


Membership You can be a member of the W.B.C. by getting an application in the Club Lounge. Dues are $35.00 per year. Retirees dues are $15.00 per. You must be 18 years of age or older, be sponsored by another member and have an interest in rowing and helping the club. New memberships must be approved by the W.B.C. Board.

Competitive Rowing Anyone interested in any of the Club's competitive rowing programs can contact Tim Cardahna, our Rowing Committee Chairman. Click on the address to contact Tim, at cardanha@yahoo.com You may also contact any of the W.B.C. coaching staff for information.

Masters Rowing The WBC will be offering a Masters Rowing program for the 2008 club season. Masters Rowing will be open to experienced rowers at least 27 years of age that have been out of competitive rowing for at least one year. In Memory Please click "here" To read about our latest losses and to see pictures of the W.B.C. Honor Guard. The Club mourns the loss of Sally Gacioch, wife of former president Ron Gacioch, Sally chaired the Scholarship Committee for the past five years. We send our condolence to Ron and his family.

A Reminder

The WBC has a "Club License" in our lounge. Per L.C.C. regulations only members can purchase alcohalic beverages. Bring your guests? Certainly. But, only card-carrying members can buy drinks.

Club Policy

No children under the age of 21 are permitted in the Club Lounge after 9:00 p.m.


W.B.C. Board Meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of every month. General Meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of every month. All members are welcome to attend.
