Heritage River Regatta 2011 - The Heritage Regatta had to be cancelled due to high winds and the safety of all participants is utmost at the W.B.C. The committee is exploring holding the regatta on an earlier date in mid October for next year. Thank you for your participation and your patience.

PAUL ORTO We mourn the loss of Paul Orto a great coach and gentle man. The Orto family, Paul and Jeff, have been a fixture at the WBC for decades. Paul coached Riverview High School and the WBC rowers for years and has held many administrative positions at the club. Paul was a friend to all and we all loved him. We will never forget Paul. Lounge Events The WBC Lounge was opened in 1968 and is in its 43nd year. The Lounge was open as a place for WBC members and their guests to meet, have a beverage and promote the sport of rowing. Please support the WBC Lounge. A portion of the profits are given to the general fund to help the club and rowing.

Adult Recreational Rowing We will once again be offering adult recreation rowing classes in the summer of 2011. A registration meeting for the FIRST session will be held on Monday June 13, 2011 at 6:30 pm. at the Club.

June 2009 Passport Requirements - A reminder to rowers who travel to Canada - starting June 1st, 2009, as part of the government's Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative, anyone driving between the US and Canada will need a passport, passport card, or other WHTI-compliant document. Just in time for the final high school regattas and the club season. Here are some helpful links:
U.S. Passport home page: The starting point for anyone needing a new passport or a passport renewal.
U.S. Passport Card: A new, lower-cost, license-sized document that can be used in place of a standard passport for land travel between the US and Canada.
Enhanced Michigan License and Enhanced Michigan ID: Details haven't been finalized, but according to the linked article Michigan has gotten approval to offer enhanced licenses and IDs that will also meet the passport requirement, starting Spring 2009.
WBC Head Coach Selected Brent Masserant has been selected as the Head Coach for the 2010 Club Rowing Season.
Introduction
The Wyandotte Boat Club is located on the Detroit River about 15 miles "downriver" of Detroit, in the city of Wyandotte. The Wyandotte Boat Club is one of the largest rowing facility in the United States. The lower level of the club features two massive indoor tanks, a weight room, ergometer room, coach's office, men's and women's locker rooms, five storage bays that can hold over 100 shells, and a workshop for repairs. The second level of the club features a beautiful bar and dance floor where members can enjoy each others company, a meeting room, outside patio, and a balcony overlooking the river.

Member Information
Membership You can be a member of the W.B.C. by getting an application in the Club Lounge. Dues are $35.00 per year. Retirees dues are $15.00 per year. You must be 18 years of age or older, be sponsored by another member and have an interest in rowing and helping the club. New memberships must be approved by the W.B.C. Board.

Masters Rowing The WBC will be offering a Masters Rowing program for the 2010 fall club season. Masters Rowing will be open to experienced rowers at least 27 years of age that have been out of competitive rowing for at least one year. For further information please contact Tim Cardanha for more info.
A Reminder
The WBC has a "Club License" in our lounge. Per L.C.C. regulations only members can purchase alcoholic beverages. Bring your guests? Certainly. But, only card-carrying members can buy drinks.
Club Policy
No children under the age of 21 are permitted in the Club Lounge after 9:00 p.m.
W.B.C. Board Meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of every month. General Meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of every month. All members are welcome to attend.
