2010 Easter Kielbasa Party Come to the Lounge and sign up for the 2010 Easter Kielbasa Party. It starts at Noon on March 20, 2010. Cost is $30.00 per/person and you get 5 lbs. of the best kielbasa to take home. Come to the W.B.C. on March 20th, have lunch, a few drinks and have a great time with friends. All proceeds go to youth rowing.

2009 Annual Election Results Don Ukranic has been elected as the new W.B.C. President. It is hoped that the members will give him their full support in helping him to keep the club going in a successful direction. The board thanks outgoing board member, Scott Sitek, for his years of dedication to the club. Scott is replaced by Keith Charett and we wish him the best of luck in his service to the club. A list of all Board Members and Officers can be found at the bottom of this page.

2009 Elwood Hebda We regret to inform you that Elwood Hebda has passed. Elwood along with his brothers Ray and Ed Hebda are origenators of the Hebda Memorial Cup Regata sponsored by the club for over forty years. Elwood was a long time dedicated member of the club. He was most noted for his excellent anouncing of all of the club and high school regattas. His resounding voice will be missed. Please keep his family on your thoughts. Services will be at Chopek Funeral Home at 11:00 am. on Wedensdeay December 16th.





Lounge Events The WBC Lounge was opened in 1968 and is in its 40th year. The Lounge was open as a place for WBC members and their guests to meet, have a beverage and promote the sport of rowing. Please support the WBC Lounge. A portion of the profits are given to the general fund to help the club and rowing.

Adult Recreational Rowing We will once again be offering adult recreation rowing classes in the summer of 2010. A registration meeting for the FIRST session will be announced here soon. The fee is $125.00 plus WBC membership fee of $35.00. Please click "here" to see info from last summer's rowing sessions to get a feel for the program.

June 2009 Passport Requirements - A reminder to rowers who travel to Canada - starting June 1st, 2009, as part of the government's Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative, anyone driving between the US and Canada will need a passport, passport card, or other WHTI-compliant document. Just in time for the final high school regattas and the club season. Here are some helpful links:
  • U.S. Passport home page: The starting point for anyone needing a new passport or a passport renewal.
  • U.S. Passport Card: A new, lower-cost, license-sized document that can be used in place of a standard passport for land travel between the US and Canada.
  • Enhanced Michigan License and Enhanced Michigan ID: Details haven't been finalized, but according to the linked article Michigan has gotten approval to offer enhanced licenses and IDs that will also meet the passport requirement, starting Spring 2009.

WBC Head Coach Selected Nick Stawowy has been selected as the Head Coach for the 2009 Club Rowing Season. Nick led the W.B.C. in last years successful season and his hard work and dedication will bring similar results this year. Introduction

The Wyandotte Boat Club is located on the Detroit River about 15 miles "downriver" of Detroit, in the city of Wyandotte. The Wyandotte Boat Club is one of the largest rowing facility in the United States. The lower level of the club features two massive indoor tanks, a weight room, ergometer room, coach's office, men's and women's locker rooms, five storage bays that can hold over 100 shells, and a workshop for repairs. The second level of the club features a beautiful bar and dance floor where members can enjoy each others company, a meeting room, outside patio, and a balcony overlooking the river.

The new facility could not have been completed with out the hard work of many dedicated members and the help of the sponsors who contributed to the success of this project. These sponsors include: Members of the W.B.C., The City of Wyandotte, BASF Corp, William E. Kreger, Hienz Prechter/Heritage Fund, Charter National Bank, Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital, and Chrysler Corp Fund.





Member Information


Membership You can be a member of the W.B.C. by getting an application in the Club Lounge. Dues are $35.00 per year. Retirees dues are $15.00 per year. You must be 18 years of age or older, be sponsored by another member and have an interest in rowing and helping the club. New memberships must be approved by the W.B.C. Board.

Competitive Rowing Anyone interested in any of the Club's competitive rowing programs can contact Tim Cardahna, our Rowing Committee Chairman. Click on the address to contact Tim, at cardanha@yahoo.com You may also contact any of the W.B.C. coaching staff for information.

Masters Rowing The WBC will be offering a Masters Rowing program for the 2009 club season. Masters Rowing will be open to experienced rowers at least 27 years of age that have been out of competitive rowing for at least one year. A Reminder

The WBC has a "Club License" in our lounge. Per L.C.C. regulations only members can purchase alcoholic beverages. Bring your guests? Certainly. But, only card-carrying members can buy drinks.

Club Policy

No children under the age of 21 are permitted in the Club Lounge after 9:00 p.m.


W.B.C. Board Meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of every month. General Meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of every month. All members are welcome to attend.
